Frequently Asked Questions

We accept wrestlers from Kindergarten through 8th grade. 

The season runs from November through the first week of February. 

Our registration fee is $175 for individual and $300 for the family. Scholarships are available upon request. 

For practice, just a t-shirt, shorts and wrestling shoes. For tournaments, your child will need a singlet (purchased by each wrestler individually from our gear store) headgear and wrestling shoes. If your wrestler wears braces, he or she will also need a mouth guard for both practice and tournaments. 

NAEW operates under the Alabama Youth Wrestling Organization (AYWO) which hosts folkstyle tournaments all over the state. However, we typically attend tournaments in the North and Central regions including locations such as Arab, Tuscumbia, Madison, Huntsville, Athens, Hoover, Gardendale and Alabaster. Wrestlers are only required to compete in two (2) AYWO tournaments plus regionals to qualify for the Youth State tournament. 

The childrens’ safety is our top priority, always. All NAEW coaches have passed a national background check, are HeadsUp (concussion) certified, and have at least a basic level of wrestling knowledge, though most have many years of experience.
