The COVID19 pandemic has changed every day life for all of us, including wrestling. Coach Guyton continues to offer individual training, with no equipment needed, through virtual workouts. These sessions provide a physical outlet and a sense of normalcy for our wrestlers, as well as giving them a competitive edge when we can get back in the mat room. With only 29 wrestlers, NAEW took third place overall, and second place in the Bantam division at the AYWO Youth State Championship tournament on Feb 1, 2020! Here are the stats breakdown:
First and foremost, we are here to help kids grow into successful young people. Wrestling is simply a tool to do that, albeit one of the very best tools! Through this great sport, kids learn determination, accountability, and perseverance while building friendships that will last a lifetime.
Coach Donny Simpson said it best "I know I wouldn’t be the person I am today if not for wrestling. It gave me my work ethic, and the attitude that if something isn’t going right in my life that it’s all on me, and I’m the only one who can change it. Made me comfortable being in very uncomfortable situations in life."
