NAEW began as DQStyle Youth Wrestling, which was founded in 2016 by a group of Athens wrestling enthusiasts. Every year since, our club has grown in size and recognition around the Southeast. This year with input from our wrestlers and parents, we decided to change the name to be more aligned with our goals (below) and vision for the club. Come be a part of the growing tradition of great wrestling in North Alabama!
Our mission is to provide children in our community with a forum to learn not only the fundamentals of wrestling, but the value of accountability, resilience and hard work by fostering mental and physical toughness within a team environment.
To carry out our mission, we have set forth the following goals:
Our assistant coaches pour so much time and dedication into our wrestlers, and we'll never be able to thank them enough. They show up for every practice, every tournament, and have a level of commitment to the team, and to the sport, that is unmatched. This group of coaches has over 80 years of overall wrestling experience combined, 25 of those years being with NAEW.
President - Erica Nance Unger
Vice President - Denitra Mitchell
Treasurer - Tyann Thomson
Secretary - Pam Baldo
This group of ladies handle the behind-the-scenes tasks that make our club run smoothly and efficiently. First and foremost, they're moms that love each and every one of our wrestlers like their own. The betterment of each child is at the forefront of each decision made. They have nearly 30 years of overall wrestling experience combined, 13 of those years being with NAEW.
